Design is a word with a very broad meaning and, while I have designed lots of things in my life, I will try to confine myself to the subject of computers here.
The art of any given computer system design begins with the needs of you, the client.
What the system will be used for and what the volume of work it is expected to perform are the two questions that must be answered to set the foundation. In their answers are found the hardware requirements of a successful implementation.
Next , we must determine what other uses are desirable and the skills of the people that will be using it. From these will come decisions regarding software and training.
My function as the designer is to get the answers to these questions and to make recommendations based upon them.
Where I can offer a distinctly different service for system design is the experience learned from solving the problems other clients have had in the past.
What hardware is reliable, so it will last for several years? Whose drivers or which software tends to create problems? What software comes with the specialized components and will it be suitable for the users?
This website is a work in progress, for which I hope to have changes almost every day.
Some days I get less accomplished on content while I fight with the idiocies of Microsoft or other vendors. This is known as "Jousting with Bill".
Some days I am out working for clients.
Please bear with me and check back soon.
If you have any questions or comments, please.
